Niki is a small Shiribeshi coastal town of around 3,500 between Otaru and Yoichi on the Sea of Japan coast. The town has some apple and grape orchards given the relatively mild microclimate of the western Shiribeshi coast. No major tourist draw distinct from Yoichi (which has the Nikka Whisky distillery a few kilometers away). Agricultural community with no social infrastructure of note.
