Mukawa

Lower score (below 6)
Mukawa made international paleontology news when a near-complete hadrosaur dinosaur fossil discovered here in 2013 was named Mukawaryu (Kamuysaurus japonicus) — at 8 meters long it's the largest dinosaur skeleton ever discovered in Japan and is now displayed at the Hobetsu Museum. The town of around 8,000 straddles the Iburi and Hidaka borders and has some tourism around the dinosaur discovery. The paleontology is a genuine draw; the town is otherwise a small agricultural community with no social scene for an outsider.
