Kamisunagawa is another former Sorachi coal town, now at around 4,000 people down from a postwar peak several times that size. The Sunagawa coalfield was one of the busiest in Hokkaido and the mine closure left the standard pattern of oversized infrastructure and declining population. No particular distinction today — agriculture and local services sustain what's left. Nothing for a foreign man socially.
