Furano is internationally known for lavender fields — the June-July bloom season draws significant numbers of foreign tourists, particularly from East Asia, who associate Hokkaido lavender with Furano specifically. The Furano Ski Resort is also a recognized powder destination with international visitor traffic in winter.
