Akaigawa

Lower score (below 6)
Akaigawa is a mountain village of under 1,000 people in Shiribeshi, best known as the location of Kiroro Ski Resort — which means the resort itself operates on a completely separate social circuit from the actual village. Outside ski season the place is essentially empty of anyone passing through, and the year-round local population is almost entirely agricultural families. The resort workers are the only social element and they're on a closed camp-style schedule. Zero social infrastructure for a foreign man not employed at the mountain.
