Nanmoku is one of the most rural and remote towns in all of Gunma — a genuine mountain community with a tiny, aging population. The best case for a foreign man here is if he has a specific interest in traditional mountain craft, forestry culture, or the agricultural way of life, which can generate genuine and warm reception from older locals who rarely meet outsiders.
