Chikujo is a rural district town in the northern part of Fukuoka Prefecture, predominantly agricultural with a population that has been declining since the coal era ended. There's a small commercial center but nothing that could be called a social scene. Young people leave for Fukuoka city, Kitakyushu, or further afield, leaving behind an older demographic that isn't accessible to outsiders. Hard pass for anyone without a specific reason to be here.
