Taketoyo is a coastal Chita Peninsula town of 45,000 known for persimmon orchards (particularly the hachiya variety) and some industrial operations. The persimmon agricultural identity and coastal character give it more texture than a generic industrial suburb. The Meitetsu Kowa line terminus is here, with access toward the Gamagōri direction. Summer weekends bring some visitors to the peninsula coastline.
