Aokas is a coastal town about 25 km east of Bejaia on the Corniche Kabyle with a real beach and summer activity that brings Algerian families and some internal tourists. The Mediterranean setting and the coastline road make it the most visually accessible part of the wilaya outside the city. In July and August there's actual foot traffic near the waterfront and cafés that have some life to them. For Algeria, that counts as relatively open.

The social dynamics are still conservative Algerian beach culture — families, separated socializing, nothing casual by Mediterranean standards. Outside summer it's quiet and there's not much to do. It's the best beach option east of Bejaia but the ceiling is low.
