Guayacanes is the beach strip where Dominican middle-class families and couples drive out from Santo Domingo and San Pedro on weekends, and that creates a weekend social scene with real energy and real women who aren't in survival mode. The beach clubs along the coast get lively on Friday and Saturday nights, and a foreign man who knows how to post up at the right chiringuito will get noticed without having to work hard for it.
