Herning
6.4
High score (8-10)
Herning punches above its size on account of being Denmark's trade fair capital — MCH Messecenter hosts major events including the massive HUB fashion fair twice a year, which means the city regularly fills with people from outside the usual provincial pool. If you're there during a fair week the social atmosphere is completely different from baseline. The city also has a legitimate bar strip around Østergade and a younger crowd relative to its population of 50,000.
Mid score (6-8) · Your profile
Outside of fair season Herning is a straightforward mid-sized Jutland town with a functional but modest social scene. The locals are more outgoing than in some other regional cities — there's a working-class directness here that's actually pleasant — but the dating pool is limited and the apps will show you the same 40 faces quickly. Worth spending time in if you're already in the region, not worth making a primary destination.
Lower score (below 6)
When there's no fair on, Herning is a provincial textile-industry town with limited upside for outsiders. The city has done a decent job reinventing itself culturally but the population base is too small to generate real momentum. The nightlife options are thin and close early even by Danish standards. Hard to build traction here without already knowing people.
