The nightlife on Calle Independencia and around Parque Vidal is real, with live music venues and a bar scene that functions. A foreign man here with presence and decent Spanish will find consistent social access in an environment where competition from other foreigners is light compared to Havana or Trinidad. The economic reality is hard enough that your relative position is strong, but the university culture also means women here have ambition and personality beyond pure economic calculation.
