Santo Domingo sits between Heredia city and San José and has absorbed some of the capital's professional-class overflow — educated women who work in San José but live here for cheaper rents and better air quality. The Museo de Cultura Popular and a handful of decent local restaurants give it more of an identity than most of the surrounding cantons. The women here tend to be professional class and self-sufficient, which raises the bar but also means the connection, when it happens, is more substantive. A good place to be based if you're doing regular business in both Heredia and the capital.
