Honda was the Magdalena River's most important cargo transfer point for 300 years — everything moving between the Caribbean coast and the interior had to pass through here, and the colonial merchant city that resulted still stands: stone bridges, riverside warehouses, narrow streets. It's now experiencing a quiet weekend revival from Bogotá with boutique hotels opening in the colonial core and a small food scene forming. A foreign man here is genuinely unusual and the historical atmosphere gives you automatic material. Play it right and Honda is one of the most interesting small cities in Colombia.

Weekend tourism from Bogotá is growing slowly. Small but has more cultural depth than its current size suggests. Limited nightlife but good for a 2-day cultural stay.
