SanAndrés

High score (8-10) · Your profile
San Andrés runs on Colombian vacation energy — mainland women from Bogotá and Medellín come here specifically to relax and party, which creates a genuinely social beach atmosphere on a small island. The duty-free status historically made it a shopping destination, meaning the airport sees heavy traffic from middle-class Colombians who are in full holiday mode. Johnny Cay and the north end of the island concentrate the nightlife in a walkable strip. If you are already in Colombia and want a beach week with active social access, this is a real option.
Mid score (6-8)
San Andrés has beach bars, Colombian tourists, and enough nightlife to fill a short trip, but at 26 sq km it exhausts quickly and the scene is thin compared to any actual Colombian city. Costs run noticeably higher than the mainland because nearly everything is imported or shipped in. The native Raizal population and the mainland pañas who now outnumber them have real cultural tension, and locals who have been here generations are not particularly warm to yet another outsider passing through. Good for a long weekend, not a base.
