Lower score (below 6)
Puerto Leguízamo sits at the confluence of the Putumayo and Caquetá rivers on the Peruvian border, accessible only by a long river journey or a flight — and almost nothing awaits an outside man once he arrives. The military presence is heavy due to the border location but civilian social infrastructure is essentially nonexistent. Indigenous Murui communities dominate the surrounding territory and are not particularly open to outsiders. This is one of the most isolated towns in Colombia and isolation here is not romantic.
