Balboa is a hot, small municipality in the Patía basin with a limited economy based on plantain, cattle, and some panela production. There's no tourism, no university, and no real nightlife — the social world is entirely family and community-based. An outsider here has no obvious entry point and would stand out for all the wrong reasons. Proximity to the Pan-American Highway gives a little transit energy but not much more.
