Yingtan is the smallest prefecture in Jiangxi and the novelty of being a foreign man here is about as high as it gets in China — you're an event just by existing. Longhu Mountain draws Taoist pilgrims and some domestic tourism, which means the city has a small hospitality economy and women who work in tourism-adjacent jobs and have at least some exposure to outsiders. Extremely low cost of living. Hard mode socially but the differential is enormous if you speak Mandarin.
