Xinyu had a significant solar manufacturing boom in the late 2000s and still has a base of young technical workers and engineers that gives it a slightly more educated demographic than a city this size would normally have. A foreign man here is a total anomaly — genuine novelty in a city that almost never sees outsiders — and the workers in the manufacturing sector have money even if the city isn't glamorous. Requires full Mandarin capability and comfort with a city that has very little entertainment infrastructure.
