Suqian is one of the few Jiangsu cities where a foreign man is still a genuine anomaly — the city is built around liquor production (it's the home of Yanghe Distillery, one of China's biggest baijiu brands) and has a working-class economy that's never seen much international traffic. That means the novelty factor is as high as it gets in this province, and local women who've had any exposure to the outside world will find a foreign man legitimately fascinating.
