Stanley is the anchor of Southern District's expat social scene — the market area and Murray House pub strip have been drawing Western expats for decades, and the crowd is a mix of long-term HK residents and expat families who live in Repulse Bay and Deep Water Bay. Aberdeen has its own character with the typhoon shelter, fishing boat community, and the recently-developed waterfront. For beach and lifestyle energy, Shek O and Big Wave Bay draw an adventurous, surfing-adjacent crowd on weekends.
