Guangxi is one of those spots where your profile punches way above weight — the region is one of the poorer autonomous regions in China, so a foreign income puts you in a completely different economic tier overnight. Yangshuo's West Street pulls in curious, social-leaning Chinese women from across the country, and the tourist flow means you're not dealing with the total social insularity you'd hit in a smaller inland city. The Zhuang ethnic culture here also means locals tend to be a bit more relaxed and outward-facing than Han-majority areas of similar income levels. Go in warm season, post up in Yangshuo for a week, and you'll have real options.

Guangxi is workable but not a layup. Outside of Yangshuo and the Guilin tourist corridor, you're in a province where foreigners are a genuine novelty and the language barrier is a hard wall — English penetration here is much lower than in any coastal city. You can make it happen with some effort and WeChat, but don't show up expecting things to fall into your lap the way they might somewhere with a bigger international footprint.

A below-average profile doesn't get rescued by novelty here the way it might in a place actively seeking outside connection — Guangxi's social culture just isn't oriented that way.
