Trashigang is the largest town in eastern Bhutan and the regional hub for the entire east — the weekly market here draws in communities from across a wide radius, and the town has a livelier, less packaged feel than the western tourist corridor. Eastern Bhutanese (Sharchops) have a reputation within Bhutan for being more open and socially relaxed than the western Ngalops, and Trashigang reflects that.
