Lençóis is the heart of the Chapada Diamantina and the best social bet in the interior of Bahia — a town of 11,000 that has been a major eco-tourism and adventure travel destination for decades, with trekking, rock climbing, swimming holes, and waterfall walks all within walking distance of the town. The social scene is the most cosmopolitan in interior Bahia: multiple pousadas catering to international travelers, bars and restaurants with genuinely good food, and a constant influx of Brazilians and foreigners from across the world who create an open, adventurous social environment. A foreign man here is completely normalized and the social possibilities are significantly higher than anywhere else in the Bahia interior.
