Itaeté
8.2
High score (8-10) · Your profile
Itaeté is a small municipality in the southern Chapada Diamantina that is the access point for the Vale do Pati, considered by many hikers to be the most spectacular multi-day trek in Brazil. The valley gets significant trekking tourism and Itaeté functions as the departure point. A foreign man with a backpack here is completely expected and the small guide and pousada community is genuinely international-minded.
Mid score (6-8)
Itaeté has real eco-tourism draw from the Pati Valley but the town itself is very small and the social scene is confined to the trekking circuit. It's seasonal and limited.
Lower score (below 6)
Itaeté outside trekking season is a very small interior town with minimal social infrastructure. The Pati Valley draw is real but seasonal and doesn't create permanent social energy.
