CuandoCubango
8.1
High score (8-10) · Your profile
Cuando Cubango is raw southern Angola — the Okavango basin, wildlife, and one of the least-visited corners of the continent. If you're the type who earns serious points with women for doing genuinely adventurous things, this is a story that travels. The Mavinga area and the floodplains are extraordinary and an emerging hunting/safari circuit is developing here. Small numbers of operators are starting to run quality camps.
Mid score (6-8)
Cuando Cubango is for genuine adventurers only — infrastructure is minimal, distances are enormous, and the social environment is almost entirely rural and traditional. The provincial capital Menongue has basic services but nothing resembling a scene. You're here for the land and the wildlife, not for social opportunity. Good for the right kind of traveler, irrelevant for everyone else.
Lower score (below 6)
This is one of the most sparsely populated and least developed provinces in Angola — vast, remote, and with almost no infrastructure for outsiders. The population is predominantly Ovambo and San peoples living traditional lifestyles that have no real interface with foreign social customs. There is no social scene by any stretch. Unless you're on a specific safari or research expedition, there's nothing here for you.
